2013 Men’s Basketball and Women’s Championship Seeding and Tiebreaking Procedures
SEEDING
The seeds for the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship shall be determined based on each team’s conference regular-season finish based on winning percentage. The divisional champions shall earn the top two seeds, with the divisional champion with the best overall league winning percentage earning the Overall Conference Championship and No. 1 overall seed. The other divisional champion shall receive the No. 2 overall seed. The teams are then pooled together and seeded based on their conference winning percentage, regardless of division.

- Division winning percentage of the tied teams.
- * Winning Percentage of the teams versus the highest seeded team (and proceeding through all seeds, if necessary).
- If a tie still exists, a draw will be conducted by the Commissioner.
TWO TEAM TIE-BREAKING FORMULA FOR DETERMINING TEAMS SEEDED 3 THROUGH 11
- Won-lost record of head-to-head competition between the two teams.
- Winning percentage of each team vs. the first-seeded team.
- Winning percentage of each team vs. the second-seeded team.
- * This process continues with winning percentage vs. the third-seeded team, fourth-seeded team, etc., as necessary, until the tie is broken and seeding is complete.
- If a tie still exists, the tie will be broken by a coin flip by the Commissioner.
#THREE OR MORE TEAM TIE-BREAKING FORMULA FOR DETERMINING TEAMS SEEDED 3 THROUGH 11
- Composite winning percentage of each tied team in head-to-head competition.
- Winning percentage of each team vs. the first-seeded team.
- Winning percentage of each team vs. the second-seeded team.
- * This process continues with winning percentage vs. the third-seeded team, fourth-seeded team, etc., as necessary, until the tie is broken and seeding is complete.
- If a tie still exists, the tie will be broken by a draw by the Commissioner.
# - For all ties involving three or more teams, the tie is broken by first deciding the highest-seeded team involved in the tie. The highest-seeded team is then removed from the tiebreaker and the remaining tied teams are put back in a tiebreaker. The tie amongst those remaining teams shall be broken by following the appropriate two-way or three-way tiebreaker procedures, from their start.
* - When breaking a tie by progressing through seeds, the best winning percentage against the highest-seeded team not involved in the tie shall be the higher seed. If the highest-seeded team is also in a tie (with tie not having already been broken and final seeds determined), the tie can only be broken if a breaking of the tie can occur using the entire pool of tied teams. Otherwise, move onto the next highest-seeded team(s).
