Lady Toppers Advance after 1-0 Win over Arkansas State

MOBILE, Ala. - Game two of the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament saw No. 4 Western Kentucky defeat No. 5 Arkansas State, 1-0, at The Cage on the campus of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.

WKU's Amanda Buechel scored her tenth goal of the season for the Lady Toppers from a corner kick in the games 75th-minute. WKU held on for the final 15 to advance to Friday's first semifinal.

The Lady Toppers will take on top-seeded North Texas at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 2. WKU was the lone team to defeat the Mean Green as WKU bested NT 2-0 on Oct. 21.

With the win WKU improved to 12-4-3 on the year while Arkansas State fell to 11-8-1.

The win for the Lady Toppers marked the third consecutive season WKU has advanced to the semifinals. Last season WKU lost on penalty kicks to FIU in the championship match.
