NEW ORLEANS - As the Sun Belt Conference volleyball regular season hits high gear Middle Tennessee's Izabela Kozon and Arkansas State's Heather Bowman were named this week's Sun Belt Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Week respectively.

Izabela Kozon guided Middle Tennessee to three wins during the week including a 3-0 win over West Division leader New Orleans. Kozon knocked down a team high 42 kills for a .424 hitting percentage in the three matches. In 85 attack attempts Kozon had just six errors. She also added assistance to the defense with 18 blocks, averaging two per set, and four block assists. Against New Orleans, Kozon knocked down a team high 16 kills with just two errors in 27 attempts for a .519 hitting percentage. Kozon also had 11 digs and three block assists in the match. In the two matches with South Alabama and Troy, Kozon tallied 26 kills with a .379 attack percentage as she averaged 4.33 kills per set. She also assisted the defense with seven digs.

Arkansas State senior libero Heather Bowman posted 80 digs as the Red Wolves went 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play last week.  She surpassed her career-high for the fourth time this season with a 36-dig performance in ASU's five-set victory over UALR Tuesday night.  She averaged 7.20 digs per set and notched two service aces against the Trojans.  Bowman went on to put up 24 digs against Denver and 20 digs in ASU's second five-set win of the week at North Texas.  She also added five assists on the week.  After this week, Bowman moved into fifth place on the ASU chart for single-season digs with 593 digs so far this season.

FIU currently leads the Sun Belt Conference's East Division as the Golden Panters remain unbeaten in league play (14-0) and are currently riding a 17-match win streak. Middle Tennessee and WKU remain in striking distance of the Golden Panthers in the East Division race.  In the West Division, Denver and New Orleans currently sit atop the standings as both teams have 8-5 records.  Arkansas State trails the Privateers and Pioneers in the competitive race.

For the fourth-straight week, FIU is receiving votes of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll. The Golden Panthers received 23 nods from the poll's voters this week.
