BOCA RATON, Fla. - FIU's senior midfielder Amy Jackson was named SBC Player of the Week. Jackson had a memorable Senior Night, scoring the game-winning goal off a corner kick from classmate Marina Pappas with 6:30 remaining against Florida Atlantic on Friday. The goal was her second of the season, as well as her second game-winner. With the 1-0 victory, FIU clinched the conference regular season title outright for the first time in school history (FIU shared the title with South Alabama in 2000).

The 2009 Sun Belt Soccer Championship begins Wednesday in Boca Raton, Fla. at the FAU Soccer Stadium as Florida Atlantic hosts its first Sun Belt Conference championship since joining the league.

FIU will be the number one seed after its very impressive play in during the conference slate (9-1-1). The Golden Panthers enter the tournament with a seven game win streak and a ten game unbeaten streak. FIU is led by senior Amy Jackson, super sophomores Katrina Rose and Thaisa Moreno and freshmen goalkeeper Kaitlyn Savage. UALR will be up first for the Golden Panthers.  The Trojans are led by Christina Veasley.

Two of the conference's most successful programs, North Texas and Middle Tennessee, will compete in the four-five match-up Wednesday at 1 p.m., with two of the league's brightest stars will facing-off.  North Texas' Kendall Juett will go up against Shan Jones and the Blue Raiders.

The Denver Pioneers, the tournament's three time defending champions, will be the number two seed and face off against the seventh seeded Troy Trojans. Denver has a good mix of veteran players such as Mariah Johnston and Lizzy Carlson and young sensations in Kaitlin Bast and Lara Campbell. The Trojans are led by Mary Morris and Bridget Duke.

The three versus six bout will be between WKU and Arkansas State. Look out for the Lady Toppers' Mallory Outerbridge, Kellie Walker, Rachel Friedman, Morgan Thomas and netminder Libby Stout as they go up against Stasha Stiers and the Red Wolves of Arkansas State.

The opening Round will be held on Wednesday November 4th, the semifinals November 5th and the championship match will be November 7th at 1:00 p.m. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA Division I national tournament.
