Wikstrom Tied For 23rd After One Round At NCAA Central Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – UALR senior Sara Wikstrom carded a 75 on the opening day of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Central Regional and is tied for 23rd place after one round.

 

Wikstrom started on the 10th hole at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course and opened with an even-par 36, before closing with a three-over par 39. The Jonkoping, Sweden-native finished with six bogeys and three birdies on the first day.

 

The UCLA duo of Stephanie Kono and Maria Jose Uribe fired matching three-under par 69’s on the first day and lead the 108-player field after one round. Seven players carded a sub-par round on Thursday, three of which hailed from UCLA as Sydnee Michaels carded a two-under par 70 and is tied for third place.

 

Led by those three players, the Bears fired a four-under par 284 and take an 11-shot lead into Friday’s second round. Michigan State and Purdue are currently tied for second place at seven-over par 295.

 

Friday’s second round begins at 8 a.m., with Wikstrom slated for a 12:20 p.m. tee time from the first hole. Live scoring is available at www.GolfStat.com.
