Manhasset, N.Y. - The 2009 John Mackey Award midseason watch list has been released by the Nassau County Sports Commission and Ragin' Cajuns sophomore tight end Ladarius Green has been added to the list.
Given annually to the best collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.
The six-foot-six Green currently leads the Cajuns in receiving and ranks in the Top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference with 20 catches for 283 yards (14.1 avg.). He has nearly equaled his 2008 totals of 22 catches for 268 yards.
Green is one of three underclassmen on the 22-man midseason watch list.
The Cajuns are off to a 4-2 start on the season thanks to a pair of non-conference victories over Southern and Kansas State and consecutive victories to open SBC play over North Texas and at Western Kentucky.
The 2009 John Mackey winner will be announced on December 10, 2009. Other key dates include the announcement of the 2009 Mackey semi-finalists on November 16, 2009 and the announcement of the 2009 Mackey finalists on November 23, 2009.
