NEW ORLEANS – Several outstanding weekend performances were recognized as Florida Atlantic’s Caitlyn Bliss, Louisiana-Lafayette’s Gabriele Bridges and Western Kentucky’s Lindsay Antone shared Tri-Player of the Week honors. Ragin’ Cajuns hurler Donna Bourgeois picked up Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second straight week.

Bliss also earned her second consecutive Player of the Week nod after delivering another set of impressive outings. The senior connected on 6-for-13 at-bats to go .462 from the plate at the Lipton Invitational at the University of Florida. Bliss was the only player to cross home plate in the Owls’ 1-0 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday, and she recorded three RBIS, a double and a triple throughout the weekend.

Bridges led the offensive charge for Louisiana-Lafayette to help the Cajuns post a 5-0 record at the Louisiana Classics Tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament team after batting .467 (7-for-15) on the weekend with four home runs, including a grand slam. She added three doubles on her way to collecting a team-best 11 RBIs. Bridges led the Cajuns with 22 total bases and reached base on balls on five occasions. She went 3-for-4 against Big East opponent Providence to rack up a career high six RBIs and 10 total bases. She rounded out her performance by recording a perfect fielding percentage in 37 chances.

Antone finished the weekend with a team-best .637 batting average in three games to earn a spot on the Auburn University Tiger Invitational All-Tournament team. She connected for seven hits and scored five runs in just 11 trips to the plate. She added two doubles and five RBIs during the weekend. Antone posted a .818 slugging percentage and recorded at least two hits and one RBI in each of WKU’s games. On the defensive end, she was perfect, recording 10 put-outs and one assist without committing an error.

Bourgeois continued her dominance on the mound, posting a 4-0 record with a save in five appearances. The sophomore boasted a 0.32 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched, allowing just one earned run on the week. Her accomplishments earned her the Louisiana Classics Most Outstanding Player honor. Bourgeois made it difficult on her opponents, holding them to a .130 batting average. She scattered just 10 hits throughout the weekend, with just one extra base hit. She struck out 36 batters, walking only four, and had a perfect game going before she was relieved against 2008 NCAA Regional participant Louisiana Tech.

All nine teams will be in action as the Sun Belt softball season continues this week with a packed non-conference schedule.
