Denver 72, WKU 67
DENVER (AP) - Nate Rohnert scored 23 points and Rob Lewis added 15 as Denver beat Western Kentucky 72-67 on Sunday to extend its home winning streak to 11 games.

A.J. Slaughter scored 28 and Jeremy Evans had 15 points for Western Kentucky.

Rohnert scored 16 of the first 24 points for the Pioneers (12-5, 5-1 Sun Belt), who never trailed.

Denver led 29-22 at halftime and increased the lead to 48-35 on Andrew Hooper's 3-pointer with 12:10 left.

The Hilltoppers (9-5, 2-1) trailed 64-54 when they made a run to cut it to 66-65 with 2:11 remaining, the closest Western Kentucky had come since trailing 21-20 late in the first half.

Travis Hallam's three-point play with 43.5 seconds left made it 69-65 Denver, and after a Hilltopper basket, Chase Hallam's two free throws made it 71-67 and Brian Stafford stole the ball with 7.9 seconds left to seal the win.

Saturday, January 9

Arkansas State 69, South Alabama 63
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Brandon Reed scored 26 points and Arkansas State beat South Alabama 69-66 on Saturday for its second straight win.

Martavius Adams added 12 points, Rashad Allison had 11 and Trey Finn grabbed 11 rebounds for the Red Wolves (10-7, 5-1 Sun Belt Conference).

Trailing 50-43 with 13:08 to play, the Red Wolves went on an 8-0 run to grab the lead for good at 51-50. The Jaguars closed to within 64-63 with 41 seconds remaining, but the Red Wolves scored the final five points.

The Red Wolves shot 44.6 percent from the field (25-for-56), including 13-for-26 (50 percent) in the second half.

Tim Williams had 17 points for the Jaguars (11-7, 3-3), who have lost two in a row by a total of nine points. Four of the past five games have been decided by six points or less.

Martino Brock added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Jaguars, and Bryan Sherrer added 10.

North Texas 71, New Orleans 57
DENTON, Texas (AP) - Josh White scored 21 points and Tristan Thompson added 18 as North Texas defeated New Orleans 71-57 on Saturday.

Thompson, a reserve, helped the Mean Green (10-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) outscore the Privateers 26-8 in bench points.

Charles Carmouche and Carl Blair each scored 15 points to lead New Orleans (6-11, 1-5).

White, a junior guard, scored his 1,000th career point in the second half. He reached the milestone with 14:37 to play when he scored on a wraparound layup. He was fouled on the play and hit the free throw to put North Texas up 48-36.

The Mean Green led 36-27 at halftime and pushed their advantage to as many as 20 in the second half. An 11-2 run put North Texas ahead 70-50 with 2:40 remaining.

George Odufuwa added nine points and nine rebounds for the Mean Green, who scored 16 points off 15 turnovers by the Privateers.

Florida Atlantic 74, Louisiana-Monroe 61
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Greg Gantt scored 20 points, leading four Florida Atlantic players in double figures, as the Owls defeated Louisiana-Monroe 74-61 on Saturday night.

Brett Royster added 13 points, Raymond Taylor had 12 and Sanchez Hughley and Shavar Richardson finished with 11 apiece for the Owls (7-9, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference). Alex Tucker also chipped in with 10 assists.

Richardson led the Owls with three 3-pointers as they finished 8-for-18 from beyond the arc (44.4 percent) in the game.

The Warhawks were just 3-for-12 from long range (25 percent).

The Owls opened the game on an 8-0 run, bookended with 3s from Gantt and Taylor, and never looked back.

Dynile Forbes scored 24 points to lead the Warhawks (6-11, 1-5), who trailed the entire way.

FAU has won back-to-back games since dropping five straight, and the Warhawks are on a two-game skid.

Middle Tennessee 66, UALR 52
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - James Gallman came off the bench to score 14 points and lead Middle Tennessee State past Arkansas-Little Rock 66-52 Saturday night.

Gallman hit 4 of 6 from 3-point range. Montarrio Haddock added 13 points for the Blue Raiders (8-8, 3-1 Sun Belt), and Desmond Yates and Calvin O'Neil had 10 points each. Haddock and J.T. Sulton led their team with nine rebounds each.

Solomon Bozeman scored 11 points to lead Arkansas-Little Rock (4-12, 0-5), and Ricky Davidson came off the bench to add 10 for the Trojans. Courtney Jackson had a game-high 11 rebounds to go with seven points for UALR.

The Trojans led 29-27 at halftime but struggled from the floor all night, shooting 29.2 percent and making just 14 field goals. Middle Tennessee shot 42.3 percent and dominated the boards with a 40-31 rebounding advantage.

Troy 84, FIU 68
MIAMI (AP) - Brandon Hazzard scored 29 points to lead Troy past Florida International 84-68 on Saturday night.

The Trojans (9-7, 4-1 Sun Belt Conference) outscored the Golden Panthers 13-2 in the first 2:34 of the game and never trailed. Hazzard scored seven points, and Antywan Jones and Richard Delk each hit 3-pointers during the run.

Hazzard, who shot 11 of 17 from the field and 6-for-10 from 3-point range, surpassed 1,000 career points. He is seventh on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,007 points.

Delk's third 3-pointer of the first half with 11:08 remaining increased Troy's lead to 25-11. Delk finished with 17 points.

Florida International (5-14, 2-4) could get no closer than 50-42 on Stephon Weaver's field goal with 15:14 remaining in the second half.

Marvin Roberts led the Golden Panthers with 27 points.
