NEW ORLEANS - WKU's Steffphon Pettigrew was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Hilltoppers to two conference wins last week. The Player of the Week honor is the third such honor for the Hilltoppers this season as Pettigrew's teammate, A.J. Slaughter, has earned two Player of the Week honors this season.

WKU forward Steffphon Pettigrew led the Hilltoppers to a pair of key Sun Belt Conference victories this past week, averaging 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in contests against Florida Atlantic and FIU. The junior shot .688 from the field (11-for-16) in the two games as WKU improved its SBC record to 4-1 on the year and 11-5 overall.

In Thursday night's win over Florida Atlantic, Pettigrew was 9-for-13 from the free throw line earning his second 20-plus point scoring game of the season as WKU pulled out a 79-72 win over the Owls. Pettigrew followed up his Thursday night performance with another good showing against FIU. He shot 5-for-8 (.625) from the field for 16 points and grabbed ight rebounds in a 81-64 win over the Golden Panthers.

Over the past eight games Pettigrew is averaging 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. WKU is 6-2 during that span.
