NEW ORLEANS - Arkansas State's Brandon Reed has been honored by the Sun Belt Conference as this week's Men's Basketball Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.

Reed, a freshman from Atlanta, Ga., turned in a pair of impressive performances for the SBC leading Red Wolves, scoring 19 and 34 points, respectively, in wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and Denver. Reed's 34 points against Denver was the most points scored by an ASU player since 2002. It marked the fourth time this season that Reed has surpassed the 20-point plateau.

In the two SBC wins during the week, Reed shot 52.5 percent from the field (21-of-40) while hitting 6-of-8 free throw. His 34 point performance gave him 320 points on the season for 15.2 points per game which is seventh best in the conference. He leads the SBC in scoring with 18.9 points per game in conference play.

Reed averaged 26.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game over the week, while playing a team high 37.5 minutes in each contest helping the Red Wolves improve its first-place record to 13-8 overall and 8-2 in the SBC.
