Men's Golf
Zan Luka Stirn (Arkansas State, Freshman, Kranj, Slovenia)
Freshman Zan Luka Stirn collected his first career individual championship, winning the Bob Sitton Invitational to lead Arkansas State to the tournament title as well. Coming off a runner-up finish the tournament prior, Stirn matched his career-best 54-hole score with a 206 that featured single-round scores of 69, 68 and 69 to finish atop the 120-player field. His second-round 68 tied the second lowest score of his career. Stirn helped lead A-State to victories over 19 teams, including programs such as Long Beach State, TCU, Oral Roberts, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky and Sun Belt schools UT Arlington and Texas State. He averaged 68.67 strokes per round on his way to a career-best finish.
Women's Golf
Anne-Charlotte Mora (Texas State, Sophomore, Nantes, France)
Anne-Charlotte Mora tied for third at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, posting rounds of 73-68-71 for a 4-under 212 54-holes score … Mora’s second-round 68 was a collegiate-best, as was her 4-under 54-hole total ... Both the 68 and 212 total are the best by a Bobcat this season … Mora played the par-4 holes 1-under (one of eight to play the holes under par) … She also played the par-5 holes at 3-under, tying for seventh in the field … She totaled 38 pars to rank eighth in the field and 11 birdies (tied for third most) … At the HBU Husky Invitational, Mora shot an opening-round 70 followed by and 80 and 75 for a 225 (+9) score and sixth-place (tied) finish … Her 70 was team-leading seventh round under par this season … She closed the event co-leading the field in par-4 scoring, playing the holes 1-under and ranked eighth with eight birdies. The tournament performances lowered Mora’s season scoring average from 75.05 to 74.50.
Fátima Fernández Cano (Troy, Senior, Santiago De Compostela, Spain)
Fátima Fernández Cano turned in a pair of top-five finishes at the 3M Augusta Invitiational and the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate – the 3M featured 11 top-100 teams, while the Henssler featured 12 top-100 teams, and five top-50 teams. Troy defeated Sun Belt Coastal Carolina by 39 shots at the 3M Augusta Invitational. Cano carded a 4-under at the Henssler to pace her week, while she played all six rounds within two strokes of par. So far this season, she has six top-25 and four top-10 finishes in Troy’s seven events. She led the field at the Henssler playing the par 5s to a tune of 4-under over the course of the event.
